Marshall is completing his Certificate III in Individual Support. He has chosen to focus on his studies including going on student placement.

Evan has ended his time with the Sunny Spectrum team ahead of his Occupational Therapy university placement. Evan is also the Chairperson of the Access and Inclusion Advisory Panel at the Adelaide City Council.

David is completing his Social Work degree and works part-time for The Greens. He is just about to start placement - good luck David!

This will be my final book recommendation for Sunny Spectrum, as I depart my role as Office Manager this week. - Susan

My favourite children’s book is one that my dad bought as an adult. Apparently he enjoyed it so much that he laughed out loud in the book store, back in 1973.

No Kiss for Mother, by Tomi Ungerer, is about a young cat, Piper Paw, who doesn’t like to brush his teeth or wash up, crumples up all the clothes his mom lays out for him for school each day, lets off fireworks and stinkbombs in class, and absolutely detests when his mother tries to hug and kiss him!

One day, when trying to pry open the clock to try to see minutes and hours, he becomes so frustrated that he tosses the clock out the window – and cracks his dad’s windshield below! (and of course feels terrible about it afterwards) A wonderful story about family dynamics, independence and boundaries, No Kiss for Mother explores Piper’s drive for autonomy.

Tomi Ungerer was a prolific illustrator and writer, described as a polymath and an archivist of absurdity. He won the Hans Christian Anderson Award for Children’s Literature in 1998, and there is a museum in Strasbourg dedicated to his work.

One of Tomi’s mottos was: Don’t Hope, Cope!
